Coding basics class for 5 to 9 year old kids

Yesterday I have started my first round of technology classes for kids.  This time I have started coding classes for 5 to 9 year old kids.  The inspiration came from the interest showed by my 5 year old daughter Veda  when I introduced her to code.org

I introduced code.org basics to about 8 kids in an online class.  They clearly understood the 3 rules when they start these classes which are outlined as below

  • Ask your parents if you want to go online
  • Only talk to people you know on the internet
  • Stick to places that are right for you on the internet

The parents were helping their kids to get them signed up and teaching them how to share their screen if they are stuck.

All the kids enjoyed the session yesterday.  I am planning to continue this for 6 weeks and see what they understand.  Some photos from the session below
